The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akwa Ibom state has announced the commencement of Phase 2 of Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise in the state.

This was contained in a statement signed by INEC Head of Voter Education and Publicity, Bukola Ojeme, and made available to newsmen in Uyo, Wednesday, January 7.

The statement said the state Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC, Mr Obo Effanga, confirmed that, “All 32 Continuous Voter Registration(CVR) centres in Akwa Ibom, open on Monday by 9a.m at the state headquarters and the 31 INEC LGA offices for the commencement of Phase 2 of the nationwide CVR exercise.”

Effanga cautioned those who completed their registration in the phase 1 of the exercise, which ended on December 10 , 2025, not to indulge in double registration by seeking to register in another location.

He equally warned those whose names were on the register as at the 2023 general elections not to register again.

“I am pleased to report that following my earlier directive, all 32 Registration Centres located at the State headquarters and 31 INEC LGA offices opened for business by 9 am today, signaling the commencement of phase 2 of the nationwide CVR exercise in Akwa Ibom,” the REC stated.
