The policy rollout was formally announced by His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, PhD, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, during a statewide New Year broadcast on Thursday, January 1, 2026, where he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability and the prudent management of public resources.

The Governor’s announcement reinforced an earlier circular issued on December 31, 2025, by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prince Enobong Uwah, directing all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Parastatals and Government Institutions to comply fully with the Treasury Single Account framework.

According to the circular, all Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) due to the State must be paid directly into the State-designated Treasury Single Account, while all government payments are to be processed strictly through the AkwaRemit Platform. MDAs are also required to reconcile TSA transactions regularly.

The State Government has described the TSA as a critical component of its financial management reforms, aimed at blocking revenue leakages, strengthening fiscal discipline and ensuring the efficient management of public finances.
