The Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has congratulated Mayor Ukeme Awakessien-Jeter, Mayor of Upper Arlington, Ohio, United States of America, on her reelection.
In a message released by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, Governor Eno described Mayor Awakessien-Jeter’s reelection as “a reflection and testament to the spectacular leadership you have demonstrated during your first term and the people’s confidence in your ability to continue leading them with purpose and drive. It is heartwarming to note that all the candidates who ran on your slate won handily.”

He noted that “as the Governor of the State of your ancestry, we are proud of your political ascendancy.”
Governor Eno further assured Mayor Awakessien-Jeter that “we will continue to celebrate and cheer-lead you in this great journey God is leading you on.”

“Congratulations again, Madam Mayor, and Godspeed!” the Governor concluded.
Mayor Ukeme Awakessien-Jeter joins the group of immigrants who have broken the glass ceilings in politics, like the Mayor-elect of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, who was born in Uganda but is poised to lead the largest city in the United States of America and the financial capital of the world, New York City, come January 2026.
