A group within the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Akwa Ibom State, the Progressive Advocates, has urged Governor Umo Eno to urgently restructure his administration and purge it of appointees allegedly loyal to former Governor Udom Emmanuel, warning that their continued presence poses a grave danger to his government and political future.
The group, in an open letter made available to journalists in Uyo on Monday, October 6, alleged that several key government functionaries, including commissioners, aides, council chairmen, and lawmakers, remained loyal to Emmanuel and were undermining the Eno administration from within.

The letter, signed by the group’s Chancellor, Anthony Peter; Secretary, Pastor Okon John; and Publicity Secretary, Felix Ita, cautioned that no administration could succeed when surrounded by people whose allegiance lay elsewhere.
“Your Excellency, it is often said that no leader goes to war with borrowed soldiers. A team whose allegiance lies elsewhere cannot fight your battles, defend your record, or protect your political future,” the group stated.
According to the Progressive Advocates, about 97 per cent of Governor Eno’s appointees were handpicked by his predecessor, and many of them have allegedly frustrated government initiatives, leaked sensitive information, and resisted the governor’s policy direction.
They continue to grumble that the governor no longer empowers them economically as their godfather once did,” the group said. “They have resorted to spreading false narratives that the administration has no tangible achievements despite huge state revenues. Their objective is to erode public confidence in your leadership and create the impression of failure where progress exists.”
The letter further alleged that some of the appointees were “working in cahoots with the immediate past governor to destabilise the APC in Akwa Ibom ahead of the next election cycle.”

The group advised the governor to act swiftly and decisively by overhauling his cabinet, warning that his continued reliance on inherited loyalists could “cripple the effectiveness of his government and imperil his re-election project.”
