In fulfilment of his campaign promises, the Nsibiet John led administration of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council, has sealed an agreement with Coquina Software Company Limited to provide internet services for members of the Union.
The agreement was signed in the early hours of Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the NUJ Chairman’s office shortly before the Chairman travelled out to PortHarcourt the Rivers State Capital for the 2025 Zonal Conference/Congress of the Union.
The agreement was signed in the presence of the Director General of the company, Mr. Namkere Akpabio, and the General Manager, Mr. Ekemini Abraham with the leadership of the Union bearing the cost.
Speaking during the meeting, Mr. Akpabio assured the Union of a reliable and unlimited internet connectivity, stressing that the company’s priority is to provide quality services and also making profit.

He pledged that Coquina Software Company will ensure that access to the internet service within the Union’s premises will be exclusive with each member entitled to his or her own password.
” Registered members will be able to login and browse freely at the Secretariat once we are done with the set up as they will be entitled to their password” he said.
In his response, the Chairman of the Union, Comrade Nsibiet John, appreciated the company for taking time to reel out their packages and further expressed confidence that they will deliver as expected.
He reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining partnerships that will improve the welfare of members, noting that the free internet service will enable members work effectively in their assigned tasks.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by the State Vice Chairman, Comrade Margaret Moore, Secretary, Comrade Nsikak Esenowo; Assistant Secretary, Comrade Uduak Akai; Financial Secretary, Comrade Kufre Emmanuel, Treasurer, Comrade Udeme Hosea, Auditor, Comrade Dianime Uko, Chairman SWAN, Comrade Emmanuel Akpan and Comrade Edifon Solomon who is the Chairman of the State Information Chapel and the Director General of the Service Team 2025.
