Christians have been advised to resist any attempt to take them captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than the sound teachings of Jesus Christ.

The General Overseer of The Way of Salvation Church of Jesus Christ, Apostle Peter Tom Udofia, gave the advice in his ongoing evangelism across media in Nigeria, exposing the strange doctrines and worldly philosophies that have entangled many souls.

Drawing inspiration from Colossians 2:8, Apostle Peter said that “any teaching that credits humanity, image, or worship of angels, not Christ, as being the answer to life’s problems becomes a false religion.”

The prophet of God disclosed that some operators of many worship centers today are adopting man-made approaches to life’s problems that totally disregard God, advising that to resist heresy, people must use their minds, keep their eyes on Christ, and study God’s word.

Exposing the techniques of false teachers, Apostle Udofia noted that they base their heresies on spiritual pedigrees and speculations, similar to the methods used by false teachers in Ephesus and Colosse, building their case on genealogies of angels as in Titus 3:9.

The Heavenly Scholar maintained that many people are very religious, claiming to know God; however, they are worshippers of an “unknown god” who is in the form of an idol, fallen angel, and graven image which cannot save, protect, and defend.

This, Apostle Udofia explained, thrives because “many private church owners, due to their financial gullibility, deceive innocent seekers of quick gospel, miracle, and wealth into falling into the wrong trap of imbibing an unknown God.”

Quoting Acts 17:23, Apostle Peter recalled that Athenians had built an idol to the unknown god for fear of missing blessings or receiving punishment, just as it is obtainable in our society today where many have derailed from worshipping the one true God, the Almighty, to unknown idols, urging people to retrace their steps as only God can save.

He said people should focus their attention on Jesus Christ, whom God offered as the way to have an eternal relationship with Himself, as there is no other name or way for redemption, citing Acts 4:12.

The Tele-evangelist and Author stressed the need for Christians to hold fast to Bible-based teaching, not merely adaptations of worldly wisdom, as the church must be built on Christ, not on any other person or principle.

Apostle Udofia referenced Revelation 13:11-18, which identifies false prophets and counterfeits of the Holy Spirit, maintaining that many seem to be good but the purpose of their miracles is to deceive.
He reminded people about Pharaoh’s magicians who duplicated Moses’ signs in Egypt, adding that true signs and miracles point to Jesus Christ as sovereign.

Apostle Udofia pointed out that many people in the world today gain influence through signs and wonders by worshipping an image, which he described as a direct flouting of the second commandment in Exodus 20:4-6.

He therefore enjoined Christians to allow the Bible to guide their faith and practice so that they will not be deceived by false teachers who are paying allegiance to Satan and their willingness to operate within the economic system that promotes rebellion against God, as recorded in Revelation 13:16-18.

Apostle Udofia sued for steadfastness, forgiveness, and repentance among people, adding that many who are reciting the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) are suffering because they do not forgive those who trespass against them.”
