Speaking to journalists on Monday, July 14, afternoon in Daura, Jobe explained that the decision to shift the burial date was made to allow for adequate preparations and to ensure proper coordination of visiting dignitaries and national protocols.

Originally scheduled to hold on Monday, July 14, the change now gives the government and Buhari’s family more time to finalize logistics for the late president’s state burial, which will take place in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, in line with Islamic rites.

“The burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari has been moved to Tuesday,” the Deputy Governor announced during a brief media chat.

Jobe arrived at Buhari’s hometown residence in Daura at about 11:27 a.m., where he said he was on ground to inspect ongoing arrangements for the late leader’s final rites.

“I came here personally to assess the level of preparations,” he stated.

While no official reason was publicly disclosed for the shift, sources within the Presidency hinted at logistical concerns and the arrival schedule of high-profile mourners as factors.

The late President Buhari, who passed away at the age of 82, will be buried according to Islamic rites in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.

The Federal Government has declared seven days of National mourning and Tuesday, 15 July 2025, as a Public Holiday in honour of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.
