A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ayekooto Akindele, has said that the party’s Deputy National Chairman (North), Bukar Dalori, will replace Abdullahi Ganduje.

Ganduje on Friday, June 27, resigned his position as the National Chairman of the ruling party.
Although the circumstances surrounding his resignation remain unclear, some sources have attributed it to health reasons.
Ganduje, who governed Kano State from 2015 to 2023, tendered his resignation on Friday, June 27, amid strong speculations that President Bola Tinubu is working behind the scenes to bring Ganduje’s longtime rival, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, into the APC fold ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to insiders at the APC national secretariat, the president’s strategic reconciliation with Kwankwaso, a former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, is a key factor in Ganduje’s resignation.
“Between me and you, it is true, but I can’t confirm officially, and please don’t quote me,” a senior official at the APC headquarters told TheNewsDESK.
While Nigerians await an official announcement from the party’s National Working Committee regarding the resignation and the choice of replacement, Ayekooto stated that Dalori will assume the office.
In a post on his official Facebook page, the APC chieftain wrote, “Acting National Chairman of the APC, Ali Bukar Dalori.”
Bashir Ahmad, former media aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, earlier stated that one of the national vice chairmen of the party would succeed Ganduje.
According to him, the successor will function in an acting capacity pending the election of a substantive chairman at the national convention scheduled for December 2025.

In reality, Ganduje handed over to Ali Bukar Dalori, Friday, who will serve as the acting chairman of APC till December.
