The All Progressives Congress, APC, Executive Committee of Nsit Ibom Local Government Area has affirmed Dr Clement Awakessien as the Political Leader of the Local Government.

This was contained in a Press Statement dated June 23, 2025, titled ‘Setting The Record Straight On Party Leadership In Nsit Ibom LGA’, and signed by the APC Executive Committee of Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.
It reads in parts: “The All Progressive Congress (APC) Executive Committee of Nsit Ibom Local Government Area wishes to address recent misinformation and clarify the leadership structure of our great party at the grassroots level.
“We emphasize unequivocally that Gen. Isang has never been appointed nor declared the political leader of Nsit Ibom LGA by the Governor of Akwa Ibom State. The Governor’s remarks at a public church event were merely in recognition of a private philanthropic gesture and not a pronouncement of political authority. As a party rooted in structure and guided by our Constitution, leadership positions are not awarded by applause but earned through due process.
“In line with the APC Constitution, the ward and chapter executives of our party in Nsit Ibom have unanimously appointed Dr. Awakessien Clement as the political leader of the Local Government Area. This decision reflects not only the will of party stakeholders but also a strict adherence to constitutional procedures.
“Dr. Clement’s leadership has further received the endorsement and blessings of His Excellency, Group Captain Sam Ewang (Rtd), former Military Administrator and respected party elder.

“We call on all party faithful across the wards to rally behind the leadership of Dr. Awakessien Clement as we consolidate and build a strong, credible, and inclusive party for the good of Nsit Ibom LGA and beyond”.
