Over 150 golfers turned out on Saturday, 7th June 2025, to tee off in this year’s edition of Ibom Open at the prestigious 18-hole Ibom golf course

Day 1 players were amateur players within playing handicap 36 to 20. The ladies’ golfers were mixed in various flights to play along with their male counterparts, where they gained inspiration as they navigated the hard terrain of the Ibom Golf Course.

Meanwhile, the experience of the veterans and super veterans was a great delight to watch as they swang tactfully to overcome obstacles.

A first timer at the Ibom Golf course, Surveyor Emmanuel described the back nine holes as “hell.” However, he was delighted to be part of the Ibom Open and recounted the fun at the cocktail party on Friday night.

While the course was challenging for most of the beginners, staunch golfers enjoyed the obstacles the Ibom Open offered to improve their game and daily challenge.

As golfers at the Ibom Open enjoyed social interaction with some top-class executives, beginners like Blessing Michael enjoyed motivation and better playing experience from her flight.

“I am handicap 36, but I learned to focus and posture to transfer the right energy into my shot. I made a better performance today.”

Some renowned players on Day-1 included Senator Anosike, Obong Nsima Ekere, Obong Okon Umana, P.K. Bello, Mr. George Oriesi and Engr. Akan Udom.
