The State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, has set up a three-member committee to overseer the organization of the 2025 SWAN week in Akwa Ibom.
According to a press released issued by the State Secretary of the sports organisation, Mr Theophilus Udo, the Committee has Mr Edidiong Stephen as its Chairman, Mrs Idongesit Umana as member, while Mr James Akpan will serve as Secretary.
The Committee was constituted, Wednesday, May 21, during the May Congress of the State Chapter of SWAN.
The congress presided over by the State Chairman, Mr Emmanuel Akpan, took place at the mini conference room of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Information Drive, IBB Way, Uyo.
Inaugurating the Committee, the SWAN boss thanked members of the committee for accepting to serve in that capacity.
He referred to them as people with track record of excellence who possess the wherewithal to carry out the assignment creditably.
Mr Akpan explained that the committee is to put together a week-long event later in the year which will feature various games, seminar and dinner night during which awards will be presented to personalities who have contributed to the development of sports in Akwa Ibom and Nigeria.
The Chairman called for the support of all members towards the success of the planned event.
Responding, the chairman of the committee, Mr Edidiong Stephen, expressed appreciation to the executive committee of SWAN for the confidence reposed in him and his members, and promised to deliver on the assignment.
