The bustling city of Uyo is set to host more than 1,000 delegates from across Nigeria and beyond as the Nigeria Public Relations Week (NPRW) 2025 officially commenced on Monday, May 19. Organized by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), this year’s edition promises an engaging five-day program rich in knowledge exchange, networking opportunities, and cultural festivities.
Day 1 – Monday, May 19:
The week kicked off with a Public Relations Stakeholders’ Roundtable featuring Traditional Rulers, fostering a dialogue that blends cultural heritage with contemporary communication strategies. Concurrently, the NPRW Undergraduates Forum aimed to nurture future PR professionals.
Adding a sporting touch, golf enthusiasts participated in the NPRW Golf Kitty. The evening was marked by a Welcome Cocktail and Manifesto Night, where candidates vying for NIPR Council positions engaged delegates in lively discussions.
Day 2 – Tuesday, May 20:
The day was dedicated to plenary and breakout sessions led by industry thought leaders, covering emerging trends and specialization areas within public relations. A notable highlight was the investiture of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State as a Patron of NIPR, recognizing his administration’s commitment to communication-driven development.
The day concluded with “Ndia Ibom,” a vibrant Food and Drink Festival celebrating the state’s rich culinary traditions.
Day 3 – Wednesday, May 21:
Sessions delved deeper into sectors vital to PR, including technology, health, security, governance, and marketing. In the evening, the Ethnik Fashion Nite showcased Akwa Ibom’s diverse fashion culture, emphasizing local identity and creativity.
Day 4 – Thursday, May 22
The focus shifted to governance with the NIPR Annual General Meeting and Council Elections, electing new national officers. The day wrapped up with a Closing Gala and Happy Hour, providing delegates an informal space to connect and unwind.
Day 5 – Friday, May 23:
Delegates will enjoy a guided tour of Akwa Ibom’s scenic attractions, experiencing the state’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. The conference’s keynote address will be delivered by renowned tax expert Prof. Taiwo Oyedele during the opening plenary.
Throughout the week, sessions will be led by top scholars and industry leaders, including Prof. Emmanuel Dandaura, Mr. Yakubu Lamai, Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan, and many others, offering rich insights into the evolving landscape of public relations in Nigeria.
