Four women, Nonye Osi, Akintan Adedayo, Elizabeth Bishop and Bukola Oladapo, and a man, Jimoh Bashiru, have been arrested for conspiring and selling a two-week-old baby for N3 million in Lagos, TheSUN reports.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Lagos, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed this in a Thursday statement.

The police spokesman said the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the command arrested four suspects for abduction and child stealing.

Hundeyin said an individual on May 5, 2025, lodged a complaint at Ajah Division that his 16-year-old cousin, Miss Happiness, was impregnated by an unidentified person.

“Investigation revealed that due to financial constraints, the complainant’s mother entrusted her to one Nonye Osi ‘f’ for accommodation until she delivered.

“However, Nonye Osi conspired with others to relocate Miss Happiness to an unknown location. When she was eventually found, she was without her pregnancy and the baby,” he said.

Hundeyin disclosed that following the transfer of the case to the SCID for discreet investigation, the police arrested Osi, Adedayo, Bashiru, Bishop and Oladapo for conspiring and selling the baby for N3 million.

“Through painstaking efforts, detectives traced and successfully recovered the stolen two-week-old baby boy from Agemuwo, Badagry area.

“The child was found safe and sound. The Gender/Anti-Human Trafficking Unit is currently handling the case and attending to the baby, who is in good health, pending his reunion with his biological mother.

“While investigations are ongoing to bring all involved parties to justice, the Lagos State Police Command reiterates its unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents,” the statement further reads.
