Stakeholders in the Niger Delta, particularly from oil and gas-producing communities, have applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for facilitating the successful completion of the $2.4 billion onshore divestment deal between Shell Petroleum Development Company Limited (SPDC) and Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited.
The stakeholders, under the aegis of the Niger Delta Oil Communities Agenda, also congratulated SPDC and Renaissance Africa Energy on the milestone transaction, expressing optimism about the future of oil and gas operations in the region.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Warri, Delta State, and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Pastor Emma Akpovoka, the group lauded the commitment of Mr. Osagie Okunbor, Country Chair of Shell Companies in Nigeria, and his team for their role in driving the divestment process to completion.
NIDOCA also expressed confidence in the leadership of Renaissance Africa Energy, under the stewardship of its Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Tony Attah, to maintain strong business relationships with stakeholders and ensure seamless operations.
“As stakeholders, we congratulate Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited. The Managing Director/CEO, Tony Attah, has assured that Renaissance is committed to becoming Africa’s leading oil and gas producer while contributing to the continent’s energy security. This is commendable,” the statement read.
The group urged host communities and other stakeholders to extend their cooperation to Renaissance Africa Energy as the company takes over the divested assets, stressing the need for sustained collaboration for mutual benefits.
Renaissance Africa Energy comprises a consortium of leading energy firms, including ND Western Limited, Aradel Holdings Plc, FIRST Exploration and Petroleum Development Company Limited, Waltersmith Group, and Petrolin, an international energy company.
