Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that economic uncertainty in Nigeria is fading while hope is on the rise, signalling renewed confidence in the nation’s economic trajectory, TheNATION reports.
Speaking at the State House in Abuja on Friday while hosting a huge delegation of Akwa Ibom State stakeholders, led by Governor Umo Eno, the President expressed optimism about Nigeria’s economic future.
A statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the occasion of the visit also saw the conferment of Akwa Ibom State’s highest traditional title, Otuekong, or Commander-in-Chief on President Tinubu.
The honor was bestowed by the Akwa Ibom State Council of Traditional Rulers, led by its President General, Nteyin Solomon Etuk, Okuibom Ibibio III.
Speaking to the growing improvement to the nation’s economy, the President said “I have just signed the 2025 budget. I am happy that the uncertainty over the economy is fading, and hope is rising.
“Thank you for always staying with us. We must work together to build the nation. And to everyone here, you represent and reflect a good society,” he said.
The ceremony was attended by a 104-member delegation from Akwa Ibom, led by Governor Umo Eno.
Among the delegates were Senate President Godswill Akpabio and his wife Ekaette, former ministers, lawmakers, religious leaders, as well as women and youth groups.
Tinubu emphasised the need for political leaders to move beyond party affiliations and focus on national development.
He praised Akwa Ibom’s steady progress, attributing it to consistent leadership and a shared vision.
“I accept all the honors and the conferment. I am one of you. Going back in time, I recall staying in Eket as an auditor of Mobil. We are all friends and family with a State that has moved progressively, with development and speed,” he said.
Commending Governor Eno for his leadership, Tinubu noted: “I have listened to the governor’s concerns about a deep-sea port and a state visit.”
“You have a very good governor, and he has the fear of God and love for his people. I watch the Arise programme of the State, and have been following developments”, he said.
Senate President Akpabio echoed the President’s sentiments, noting that Governor Eno has been instrumental in fostering unity in the State.
He pledged that the State’s political leadership would continue reconciliation efforts and support the President’s agenda.
Governor Eno reiterated the State’s commitment to working with the Federal Government on key infrastructure projects such as the Ibom Deep Sea Port and addressing ecological challenges.
He also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for their support following the loss of his wife.
