A veteran Nigerian journalist and academician, Dr. Dayo Duyile has been promoted to Associate Professor of journalism and Mass communication at Wesley University, Ondo.

Before his promotion, Dr. Duyile served as Head of Programmes, Department of Mass Communication at Wesley University.

He had previously led the Mass Communication Departments at Adekunle Ajasin University, Joseph Ayo Babalola University, and Elizade University.

Dr. Duyile’s career spans decades in both academia and journalism. He formerly served as Director of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Editor of Daily Sketch Newspaper, and Editorial Training Manager at Concord Newspaper between 1980 and 1983.

A distinguished scholar, Dr. Duyile earned his PhD from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) at age 82, proving that academic excellence has no age limit.

According to him, his promotion to the post of Associate Professor was announced at an emergency meeting of the University Senate by the Vice-Chancellor, Rt. Rev Prof Obeka Samuel Sunday (Jp) who congratulated him on the milestone.

In his reaction, Dr. Duyile expressed profound gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management, describing the achievement as the fulfillment of a long-cherished academic ambition.

He also commended Prof. Obeka’s visionary leadership, noting his efforts in infrastructure development, accreditation successes, and strategic partnerships that continue to advance Wesley University.

Dr. Duyile described Rt. Rev. Prof. Obeka as a diligent and goal-driven leader committed to taking the university to greater heights.
