Rwanda produced a brilliant display on Monday, November 18, 2024, in an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier, beating already-qualified Nigeria 1-2 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
Winger Samuel Chukwueze put Nigeria ahead in the 59th minute, but Rwanda quickly turned the game around with goals in the 72nd and 75th minutes.
Despite the loss, Nigeria topped their AFCON qualifying group with three wins, two draws, and one defeat. While despite the win, the Rwandans did not make it to the competition as they fell short to Benin Republic who picked the group’s second ticket.
