Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has announced plans to commence some construction works at the Ibom Industrial Park from August this year.
The Governor disclosed this after an inspection of the site for the Park at Itam, Itu Local Government Area.
Governor Eno stated that a physical appraisal of the area was necessary as the government prepares to begin construction in accordance with the consultant’s architectural plan.
According to him, the project’s development is being expedited by a special committee led by the
Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, who is also overseeing the Ministry of Special Duties.
He hinted that the committee will present a comprehensive report on the project during a scheduled Finance and General Purpose Committee (FGPC) meeting in the coming week.
Governor Eno emphasized his administration’s commitment to realizing the vision outlined in his ARISE Agenda, adding that he remains dedicated to the development, peace, and unity of the state.
The Ibom Industrial Park is expected to play a crucial role in boosting the state’s economic growth while opening up employment opportunities for its residents.
“We expect that work will start here in August. I came here today to see the site for myself because the last time I was here there was demolition of structures to pave way for commencement of the project.
“So I came out here to see how we can link what is in the plan that has been put together by our consultant, to the physical structure on ground. I always like to do that.
“You have seen that we have set up a committee made up of all of the ministries that has something to do here, headed by the Secretary to the Government who is also overseeing the Ministry of Special Duties.
“There is need to keep interpreting our ARISE Agenda vision and one of our main points was to work on this Industrial Park by providing water and power here.
“Once we achieve this, we can concentrate development in one area that has been earmarked not by my administration but by the administration of Obong Victor Attah.
“For me, all we want to do is actualize the vision of our founding fathers that falls in line with our own vision because the vision must also fall in line with what we are doing. That’s why we came here to see things for ourselves”
