The remains of late Elder Ekpeno Sambo Okpon of Ikot Ntan Nsit, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area will be laid to rest on Saturday, March 2, 2024.
Although the Chief mourner, Mr Akaninyene Okpon, could not be reached as at press time, the son in-law, Mr Nsikak Ossom, who is a staff of Akwa Ibom SUBEB, confirmed that he will be put to rest this Saturday after a funeral service to be conducted by United Evangelical Church, (founded as Qua Iboe Church) Ikot Ntan Nsit by 10am.
The late Elder Ekpeno Sambo Okpon retired as an accountant in Mbebeng Group of Companies in early 2000.
According to family sources, late Elder Okpon was gentle, peaceful approachable and highly disciplined role model of what peace stands for and a peace maker who settled quarrels and united broken homes and friendship.
Aged 81 years, he was a generous, kind and simple man who believe that wealth is vanity but knowledge and education is power.
Late Elder Okpon died October 6, 2023 after a brief illness and would be remembered by his children and well wishers as he always said, “I want my record to be clean”.
