The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the St. Gregory’s College Old Boys Association for his contributions to public service and national development.
This was made known by the Force Public Relations Officer, PPRO, CSP Ani Iniedu in a Press Statement dated September 26, 2026.
Disu received the award on September 26, 2026, alongside the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Olayemi Cardoso, at a grand reception organised by the association in Lagos State.
The recognition was presented to distinguished old boys of the institution for their contributions to national service and leadership in their respective fields.
The award recognised Disu’s more than three decades of service to the Nigeria Police Force and his professional career since completing his secondary education at St. Gregory’s College in 1985.
Since joining the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1992, Disu has served in various operational, investigative, intelligence and command positions.
His previous assignments include Commander of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad, Head of the Intelligence Response Team and Commissioner of Police, among other senior responsibilities, before his appointment as the 23rd indigenous Inspector-General of Police in February 2026.
The association also recognised his emphasis on professionalism, intelligence-led policing, accountability, personnel welfare, community partnership and the use of technology in improving policing and public safety.
In his remarks, Disu expressed appreciation to the St. Gregory’s College Old Boys Association for the recognition, describing the honour from his alma mater as particularly significant.
He reaffirmed his commitment to serving Nigeria with integrity and strengthening the Nigeria Police Force as a professional, accountable and people-centred institution.
The event also underscored the role of education, mentorship and institutional values in shaping professionals who contribute to national development.
