Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued seven kidnapped victims, including six female students of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), during a swift intervention in Katsina State.
The victims were rescued along the Daye–Malumfashi Road in Danmusa Local Government Area of the state on the evening of Monday, September 21, 2026, following an attack on a commercial vehicle travelling from Kaduna to Katsina.
According to a statement on the operation, the troops responded promptly to a distress call reporting the incident and arrived at the scene, forcing the assailants to abandon their captives and flee.
The rescued victims comprised six female students of FUDMA and a male commercial driver. All seven were rescued unhurt.
The victims subsequently underwent preliminary security profiling and medical evaluations before being handed over to designated officials for reunification with their families and school authorities.
The successful operation underscores the troops’ responsiveness and commitment to protecting civilians and combating criminal activities along vulnerable routes in the North-West.
