The Nigeria Police Force, NPF, is set to host the 6th Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers, CARSPO 2026, in Imo State from Monday, September 21 to Wednesday, September 23, 2026, bringing together top security officials, policymakers, election stakeholders, and experts to strengthen strategies for effective election security management ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The conference, themed “Developing a Police Roadmap for Effective Management of Security During Elections,” is expected to serve as a critical platform for reviewing existing security frameworks, identifying emerging threats, and formulating actionable strategies to guarantee peaceful, credible, and violence-free elections across the country.
CARSPO 2026 is being co-organised by the Nigeria Police Force in partnership with Lenders Consult International, a long-standing strategic partner of the Force. Since 2019, the consultancy firm has collaborated with police authorities in securing sponsorships and providing high-level operational support and innovative solutions aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of Nigeria’s foremost internal security agency.
According to organisers, the three-day conference will focus on developing a comprehensive national security roadmap for the 2027 general elections, with discussions expected to address issues such as election-related violence, intelligence gathering, inter-agency collaboration, deployment strategies, technological innovations in election policing, and public trust in the electoral process.
Senior police officers from across the federation, representatives of relevant government agencies, civil society organisations, election management bodies, development partners, and security experts are expected to participate in the conference and contribute to the formulation of practical recommendations for election security operations.
