The Coordinator of the office of the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, has celebrated her 2026 birthday with a colourful street party, using the occasion to share food, drinks and goodwill with residents and passers-by in Uyo.

The celebration which held on Monday, August 24, 2026, under the Atiku Abubakar Flyover, attracted children, traders, hawkers, motorists, residents and other members of the public who joined the festivities.

Speaking at the event, Lady Obareki expressed gratitude to God for the gift of life, strength and the grace to continue serving the people of Akwa Ibom State.

She also appreciated the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, for creating an enabling environment for her to discharge her responsibilities as Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady creditably well.

Lady Obareki said her decision to celebrate her birthday on the streets was deliberate, noting that she had initially planned to feed 1,000 people but was pleased that the number of beneficiaries appeared to have exceeded her target.

According to her, she deliberately kept the celebration open to the public rather than inviting guests, explaining that anyone who heard the music, came around and participated in the celebration, was welcome to share in the food and drinks provided.

She expressed particular appreciation to children and hawkers who left their various business points to join the celebration, describing their presence as a gesture she would not take for granted.

“I see the children and the people hawking. Some people have come from their business places around the bridge and they came to celebrate with me with gifts. I do not take it for granted,” she said.

Lady Helen Eno Obareki appreciated the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Inibehe Silas Etukudo, and other female Stakeholders who attended her birthday celebration.

She thanked the team members of the Patience Umo Eno Golden Initiative for All, (GIFA), and the Office of the First Lady for their support in making the celebration a success.

The Coordinator further extended gratitude to her family members and all those who contributed to the success of the event.

Lady Obareki, who was joined by her children at the celebration, expressed delight at the turnout, saying the event had exceeded her expectations. She also expressed appreciation to the people of Akwa Ibom for their overwhelming love and goodwill.

The colourful celebration featured music, dancing, games, and dance competitions, with winners receiving gifts from the Coordinator and other personalities, who later joined in the cutting of the birthday cake, adding to the excitement of onlookers.
