…Seeks Inclusion in Campaign Committee, Applauds Kufre Udosen’s Open-Door Leadership
By Emmanuel UFON
Former councillorship candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State, under the aegis of the APC 329 Wards Councillorship Candidates’ Forum 2024, have reiterated their commitment to the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Umo Eno and Senate President Godswill Akpabio in the 2027 general elections.
The group also appealed for recognition and inclusion in the party’s campaign committee as preparations intensify ahead of the resumption of the 2027 election campaign.
Speaking at an enlarged breakfast meeting of the forum on Tuesday, its Chairman, Hon. Destiny Isidore Norbert, said the organisation had, during its congress in June 2025, unanimously endorsed the re-election of President Tinubu, Governor Eno and Senate President Akpabio, as well as all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
Norbert said the decision was aimed at ensuring continuity in governance and creating more opportunities for the initiation and completion of projects capable of improving the lives of the people.
He specifically cited projects such as the Ibom Deep Seaport, Oron Jetty and various road projects as initiatives that require sustained political support and continuity.
The chairman also applauded the open-door leadership style of the Special Adviser, Bureau of Political and Social Re-orientation, Akwa Ibom State, Kufre Udosen, Esq.
He disclosed that the leadership of the forum would pay a courtesy visit to the Special Adviser before the end of the day to formally present the organisation’s position and discuss areas of collaboration.
Similarly, the Secretary of the forum, Hon. Ekomobong James, described the APC 329 Wards Councillorship Candidates’ Forum 2024 as a frontline socio-political organisation that emerged from the aftermath of the 2024 Local Government Council elections in Akwa Ibom State.
According to him, the forum, which has been duly registered with the relevant party and government structures, provides a platform for coordinating grassroots mobilisation across the political wards of the state towards the realisation of the APC’s objectives.
Also speaking, the 2024 APC councillorship candidates expressed their appreciation for what they described as the modest achievements of Governor Umo Eno in the development of Akwa Ibom State.
They appealed to the governor to formally adopt the forum, noting that its membership has a strong presence across the political wards of the state.
“We pledge our unalloyed loyalty to His Excellency, Governor Umo Bassey Eno, Ph.D., in this regard, as we anticipate his prompt approval,” the candidates affirmed.
