Sports Commissioner Endorses ARISE Peace Choir Competition

… Applauds Godly example of Governor Eno in the state.

The Honourable Commissioner for Sports, Elder Paul Bassey, has endorsed the ARISE Peace Choir Competition campaign of the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Creative Talent Development.



Elder Bassey made the
endorsement on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, when the ARISE Peace Choir Competition Planning Committee visited him in his office to seek his support alongside the endorsement.



Describing the state as the most peaceful in the country with its attendant developmental advantages in human and infrastructural improvement, Elder Bassey attributed it to God’s intervention and prayers, which is core in the leadership model of Governor Umo Eno.

“… His Excellency has made us believe practically that all the developments in the state are possible because of God’s intervention and prayers. This is a Governor that considers it paramount to lead us to prayers at every opportunity”, the commissioner said.

Speaking earlier,the Special Assistant to the Governor, on Creative Talent Development and the Choir Committee Chairman, Comrade Emmanuel Owuala,had intimated the Commissioner of the goal of the choir competition.

According to him,the campaign which is organized in collaboration with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious Matters, with the theme “PEACE BE STILL”, is targeted at widely reechoeing the peacefulness of the state, especially as the General Elections draw near.

Speaking on the size of the programme, Comrade Owuala said the official commencement is billed for August 16 and is expected to draw not less than a 30 man choir from each Local Government Area in the state, with a 5 million, 3 million, and 2 million Naira prizes, for the first position and the runner ups, respectively.

In his endorsement, the Sports Commissioner thanked the committee for taking time to think in the direction of coming up with the campaign.

Elder Bassey maintained that since the state has stood out as a model of peace in the nation, anything that seeks to amplify its peaceful ambience is worth supporting.He however, seized the medium to call on the masses to creatively key into the workings of the government and desist from causing distractions to governance with negative sentiments.

Also in the team was RT. Hon. Justice Ekong, former Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, who is the Secretary of the choir competition committee.
