Gov Eno Approves ₦1.3bn Bursary, Raises Akwa Ibom Students’ Grant To ₦50,000

Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has approved the release of ₦1.3 billion for the payment of bursaries to eligible students across the state.

The governor also approved an increase in the bursary award from ₦20,000 to ₦50,000 per beneficiary.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah.

According to the statement, the approval is aimed at easing the financial burden on students while expanding access to higher education and strengthening human capital development in the state.

The statement described the intervention as a demonstration of the governor’s commitment to investing in the future of Akwa Ibom youths.

“This landmark approval underscores the Governor’s commitment to easing the financial burden on students, expanding access to quality education, and investing in the future of Akwa Ibom’s young people,” the statement read.

It added that the intervention includes the release of ₦1.3 billion for bursary payments, an increase in the bursary award from ₦20,000 to ₦50,000 per beneficiary, and support for eligible students across the state.
