…as stakeholders commend Eno-Akpabio synergy at ISDMA leadership Anniversary Summit

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has charged media practitioners to focus on projecting the developmental strides of his administration and promote peace through responsible journalism, stressing that the media should avoid reports capable of creating disunity in the state.

The governor gave the charge on Friday at the Leadership Anniversary Summit organised by the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Media Advocates (ISDMA) at the ATI Annang Hall in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area.

Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mkpisong Frank Archibong, Eno commended the media advocacy group for supporting his administration and the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, noting that the cordial relationship between both leaders had continued to attract development to Akwa Ibom State.

According to him, “Your reportage should bring peace to Akwa Ibom and not breaking news that will break the state.”

The Governor described the people of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District as intelligent, creative and resourceful, assuring them that his administration holds the district in high esteem while urging them to continue projecting the government positively.

Chairman of the occasion, Senator Emmanuel Ibok-Essien, applauded ISDMA for organising the leadership summit, describing it as a platform through which younger generations could learn the values of purposeful leadership and collaboration.

He attributed the prevailing peace in Akwa Ibom State, particularly during the recently concluded party primaries, to the harmonious working relationship between Governor Umo Eno and Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

“We have witnessed elections in the last forty years or more but I must confess that this is the most peaceful nominations that I have ever witnessed. We have seen what has been going on severally in elections and nominations, but this particular election that just ended is like going to collect communion,” he said.

Also speaking, Atuekong Don Etiebet described the gathering as a celebration of the gains of collaboration and leadership synergy, adding that the governor’s leadership style had inspired the unity being celebrated.

“We are celebrating history today. History of collaboration, working together and the gains of leadership synergy. It is the character of Pastor Umo Bassey Eno that has led us to this event today,” Etiebet said.

Earlier, President of ISDMA, in his welcome address, said members of the group converged because of the peace and stability currently enjoyed in the state through the partnership between Governor Eno and Senate President Akpabio.

“We are gathered here because we are all testament to the reality on the ground, which has been the peace that we’ve enjoyed in our state today, courtesy of two gentlemen, His Excellency the Senate President and the Governor of our state,” he stated.

Delivering the keynote address, Barr Emmanuel Enoidem SAN, said the cordial relationship between the governor and the Senate President had become a major catalyst for the state’s development.

He noted that the unprecedented cooperation had improved access to federal interventions, strengthened support for state development priorities, attracted strategic investments and boosted the confidence of development partners.

“More importantly, it creates stability—an indispensable ingredient for economic growth. Investors seek stability. Businesses thrive where policies are predictable. Communities flourish where peace prevails. Young people aspire where hope is sustained,” Enoidem said.

The summit also featured the official unveiling of “The Confluence,” a magazine published by the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Media Advocates.
