In Mali, a Mi-24 combat helicopter belonging to the Russian African Corps was destroyed. There is no exact information about the crew.

Tuareg rebels from the “Azawad Liberation Front” shot down an Mi-24 attack helicopter of the Russian African Corps.

In their reports, some channels state that the crew died, while others report that the pilots were taken captive.

The Russian Mi-24 helicopter was shot down while departing from Gao to Anefis to reinforce the city amidst ongoing assault by FLA and JNIM militants. It appears it was shot down by Truck mounted ZU-23-2 twin-barreled autocannon. These weapons pose a threat to low flying aircraft.
