The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio has praised the political unity in Akwa Ibom State and commended political actors for maintaining peace in the State.
Akpabio gave the commendation on Wednesday in his home Local Government Council, Essien Udim at a meeting of political stakeholders from the Local Government Area. He noted that due to the existent unity in the area there was no opposition to contend with.
Akpabio urged the stakeholders from Essien Udim as the second largest Local Government Area in the State, after the State Capital Uyo, to redouble their efforts in mobilizing the people at the grassroots for full participation in the upcoming political processes.
He said the Local Government Area being the stronghold of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Akwa Ibom State must set the pace in massive mobilization to return all APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
“I am proud of the political unity existing in this Local Government Area as you have united together for the overall benefit of the Local Government Area. As the pacesetter you must lead in delivering massive votes for all APC candidates in the general elections,” Akpabio said.
The Senate President listed developmental projects that he has attracted to Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District and Akwa Ibom State as a whole and commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for taking development to the grassroots.
In a resounding voice vote the people unanimously resolved to support President Tinubu, Governor Umo Eno, Senator Akpabio and all candidates of the APC as their candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
