The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested suspects in connection with a gruesome killing within the State.
This was disclosed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Timfon John in a Press Release issued on Sunday, April 19, 2026, in Uyo.

According to DSP John, “Operatives of the Command, acting on credible intelligence, swiftly mobilized to the scene where the victim was found burnt beyond recognition inside a room, under circumstances strongly suggesting a deliberate and violent act. The area was immediately cordoned off, and a full-scale investigation was launched.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident occurred at Iko Udo Obobo Village in Ukanafun Local Government Area, where the victim, one Okon, male, aged 27, was reportedly burnt in his room.
“Through sustained intelligence-led operations and meticulous investigative efforts, two suspects have been arrested in connection with this heinous crime. They are One Idem Etim (male) and Namkere Ikoboatang (female). The suspects are currently in custody and are providing useful information to aid ongoing investigations.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, has ordered a comprehensive investigation to ensure that all persons involved in this barbaric act are identified, apprehended, and brought to justice without delay.
“The Command wishes to categorically state that this is a clear case of culpable homicide and will be pursued with the full weight of the law.
“The Police hereby warn all criminal elements that Akwa Ibom State is not a safe haven for violent offenders. The Command remains resolute in its commitment to protecting lives and property and will continue to act decisively against all forms of criminality.
“Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station,” the Press Release concluded.
