IGP Disu Visits Police Cybercrime Centre, Reaffirms Commitment To Tech-Driven Policing

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, paid an operational visit to the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre in Abuja as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s response to cyber threats.

The visit, which took place at the Centre’s headquarters in the Federal Capital Territory, was aimed at assessing ongoing operations targeted at combating cybercrime and enhancing institutional capacity to tackle emerging digital threats, Swift Reporters reported.



During the engagement, the IGP underscored the growing importance of technology-driven policing in modern law enforcement, noting that cyber intelligence and digital forensics remain critical tools in addressing increasingly sophisticated criminal activities.

He reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to advancing its cybercrime-fighting capabilities through improved intelligence gathering, deployment of cutting-edge technology, and proactive crime prevention strategies.

The visit forms part of ongoing reforms within the Force aimed at aligning policing operations with global best practices in tackling cyber-enabled crimes.
