‎The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State State, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, has assured of collaborations with the State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, in safeguarding critical assets of government while maintaining peace and order.

‎Lady Obareki spoke on Tuesday, when she received the top brass of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Akwa Ibom State Command led by the Commandant, Geraldine Sixtus Abetiambe, who paid a familiarization visit to her office at Government House, Uyo.

‎The First Lady who warmly welcomed the 17th and 3rd female State Commandant of the NSCDC and her team to her office, stated that she was excited to note that women were breaking glass ceilings in male dominated areas.

‎She informed the team that the role of her office was basically to complement the state government, adding that her Non Governmental Organization GIFA, exists to fill in the gaps especially in the rural communities.

‎”The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has been very intentional in reaching the grassroots through his bottom top approach. What we do here is basically to complement what the State government does. We exist to fill the gaps,” Obareki said.

‎She congratulated the NSCDC boss on her posting to the state and wished her a peaceful and impactful reign.

‎Earlier, the State Commandant, Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Akwa Ibom State Command, Geraldine Abetianbe, in her remarks, stated that it was pertinent to first pay a visit to the Coordinator to familiarize and seek partnership with the Office of the First Lady.

‎Highlighting the NSCDC’s responsibilities to include monitoring and supervision of Private Guard Companies, safeguarding critical national assets and Infrastructures, anti-vandalism and anti-theft, Commandant Abetianbe pledged the Paramilitary’s readiness to support the government of Akwa Ibom State to ensure continued peace and security in the state.

‎Highpoint of the visit was the presentation of a memento to the First Lady by the State Commandant, who in return, presented gifts from the Office of the First Lady to the NSCDC boss and her team.
