Akwa Ibom Transport Boss Applauds Gov Eno On Health Safety Policy

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Anthony Luke has applauded Governor Umo Eno on his Health Safety Policy for Civil Servants, describing him as a truly Workers- friendly Leader, committed to the wellbeing of workers.



Dr. Anthony Luke gave the commendation Tuesday, 31st March, in Uyo, during a Health Safety audit of the Ministry of Transport by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Health Safety and Environment, Mrs. Jayne Ufot, in the company of her team of safety professionals.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Grace Akpan, the Transport Commissioner expressed deep appreciation to Governor Eno for approving the Health safety audit across MDAs in the State, emphasizing that the measure will stem the tide of workplace accidents and hazards amongst government workers.



He commended the SSA on Health Safety and Environment, Mrs Jayne Ufot and her team, for the dedication and passion in carrying out the audit exercise with dexterity and expressed the hope that, the outcome of the exercise will boost health safety in offices and enhance conducive working environment for workers in the state.



Addressing Directors and Staff of the Ministry, Mrs Jayne Ufot, represented by Engr. Peter Asuquo said, it is the desire of the State Governor Pastor Umo Eno to ensure a Healthy and Safe work environment for workers hence the setting-up of the Unit in the Office of the Head of Civil Service.



The SSA listed poor electrical connections, poor wirings, broken louvres, cracks and leakages as some anomalies in offices that often lead to accidents at workplaces and urged the staff to adhere to Health and Safety measures to protect their lives and government properties at the workplace.

The exercise featured; inspection, briefing, and debriefing sessions in view of ensuring workplace safety compliance and best practices.
