The Police Command in Akwa Ibom State has concluded plans to commemorate the 2026 Police Day with series of activities in a week long events.

This was contained in a Press Release issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Timfon John on behalf of the State Police Commissioner, Baba Mohammed Azare, in Uyo on Thursday, March 26, 2026.

According to the PPRO, this year’s theme is “ Community Partnership, Building Trust” which is aimed at strengthening community relations, promotion of public safety and showcasing Police capabilities.



“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare fsi, is set to commemorate the 2026 Police Day with a series of activities aimed at highlighting the vital role of the Police in ensuring peace and security across the State.



“The week-long celebration, an annual event held in honour of the Nigeria Police Force, is themed “Community Partnership: Building Trust.” The programmes are designed to strengthen community relations, showcase police capabilities, and promote public safety, while providing opportunities for meaningful engagement between the Police and the public.



“As part of the activities lined up for the celebration, personnel of the Command will embark on community-based outreach programmes including environmental sanitation exercises across selected locations, as well as medical outreach services for members of the public.

“There will also be a coordinated walkathon with officers participating to promote unity, visibility, and community engagement.



“In addition, the Command will carry out public sensitization campaigns focusing on the prevention of electoral violence and other related offences. Road users will also be educated on safe driving practices and the importance of compliance with traffic regulations.



“The programme will further feature a solemn presentation of welfare cheques to families of deceased officers, in honour of the sacrifices made by fallen heroes and as part of ongoing efforts to support their loved ones.

“The celebration will culminate in a grand finale scheduled to hold on 7th April 2026 in Abuja.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare fsi, reassures the good people of Akwa Ibom State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security. He emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration between the Police and the public in the fight against crime.



“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command invites members of the public to actively participate in the scheduled activities and join in celebrating the dedication and sacrifices of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force,” DSP John concluded.
