Akwa Ibom Dep Gov Tasks Nsit Ibom Women On PVC, NIN Registration, Canvasses Support For Eno, Tinubu’s Re-election In Nsit Ibom

Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor Senator Akon Eyakenyi, has tasked women in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and National Identification Numbers, to be able to vote in the forthcoming general elections.

Eyakenyi who spoke in Afaha Offiong at the ongoing Women Sensitization across the State said it is the civic responsibility of the women to participate in the electoral process and to support the administration of Gov Umo Eno.

Eyakenyi who described the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno as humane and peace loving is committed to the welfare of the people of Akwa Ibom State.

She called on mothers to encourage their children who have attained 18 years to register for their voter cards.

She said the governor wants women to be trained in financial responsibility to enable them understand savings and investments.

She disclosed that a minimum of 100 women in each of the Wards are expected to join cooperatives in their various wards to access farmers and business grants that will boost their economic status and contribute to the development of the state.

She called on the women to support the government of Pastor Umo Eno and President Bola Tinubu.

Also speaking, The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Noble Lady Helen Obareki, who expressed appreciation to the Deputy Governor for her support to the women said the women can only strengthen their support for the government by registering and obtaining their PVC, NIN and completing their APC e-registration.



She urged women and youths to exercise their civic responsibility by registering.

The member representing Nsit Ibom State Constituency in the House of Assembly, Mr Eric Akpan, appreciates the governor for his support for women in the state.

He says women in Nsit Ibom are exposed and hardworking, and adds that no candidate can win an election without the support of women.

The Chairman of Nsit Ibom Local Government Area, Mr Otobong Aaron, said the people of the area are satisfied with the governor’s performance.

He assured the governor of their continued support, alongside President Tinubu.

The Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ubong Umo, described Nsit Ibom as a major voting bloc in the state because women in the area are politically conscious and understand governance.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Inibehe Silas, says the women are in Nsit Ibom to deliver the governor’s message on voter registration and empowerment.

She encouraged those who lost their voter cards to visit the Independent National Electoral Commission to obtain replacements.

She says the governor is ready to empower women and has deployed a medical team to conduct free medical outreach in the area.

The Special Adviser, Bureau of Cooperative, says women without voter cards and NIN will not be eligible to join cooperatives.
She reiterated that the governor is committed to ensuring women can provide food for their families.

The State Woman Leader of the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom, said the visit was not a campaign but a sensitisation effort to encourage women to aspire and become business minded.

Also speaking, Dr Inemesit Uwa, wife of the Secretary to State Government said the visit was to sensitise women on the importance of e registration, describing it as a civic right.
She urged the women to maintain their support for the administration of Gov Umo Eno.
