The Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has been hailed for his compassionate disposition to the people of the state.
The commendations came from some Eket stalwarts during the presentation of a fully furnished bungalow to a widow, Mrs Comfort Daniel Eshiet mother of Miriam Daniel, a TVC News bureau chief.
The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Frank Archibong, handed over the structure to the family of Miriam Daniel urging them to be diligent and safety conscious. He further described Governor Eno as compassion personified who has the interest of all akwa-ibomites.
Mr. Archibong seized the opportunity to commend the Governor for his results-driven leadership evidenced through several life touching projects across the state and in Eket as well.
He further tasked eket people to remain resolute in their support as better things lie ahead.
In his remarks, the Council Chairman of Eket Local Government, Mr. Akaniyene Tommey, expressed gratitude to Governor Eno for being true to his words by alleviating the pains of the Miriam Daniel family with such a befitting structure while also rallying support for the state governor beyond 2027.
Setting the tone for the presentation, the Governor’s aide on Humanitarian affairs, Elder Nsikan Umoekpo said the governor was moved by the condition of the widow, to built a new one.
He said the new house was bigger than the regular Arise Compassion homes, and the shops will generate revenue for the family.
In their words of appreciation, the Miriam Daniel family prayed God’s blessings and more wisdom upon the Governor.
Also speaking, the wife of the Paramount of Paramount Ruler of Eket, Obonganwan llVillage Head of Odoro Atabong, Obong Ferdinand Ikwang lauded the exceptional gesture from the governor, describing it as the second consumer of its kind in the local government.
On his part, the State Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Nsibiet John applauded the Governor for his support to the media community and for keeping to his promise of presenting a new home to the family of Miriam Daniels , after a midnight inferno last year, had completely destroyed the previous building along RCC Road in Eket.
“I am pleased to be a witness to this event . The Governor has shown that he is a man of his word and I commend him for his compassionate disposition and continuous support for journalists.
“I am appealing that he should do more and may God bless him, Mr Nsibiet John said”.
Present during the presentation were the Commissioner for Sports, Elder Paul Bassey, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Research and Documentation, Dr Essien Ndueso, among others.
