The performance and leadership accomplishments of Governor Umo Eno in the last two and a half years have been described as focused and phenomenal, reflecting a structured, results-oriented approach to governance.

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information, Hon. Aniekan Umanah, made the assertion on Friday, January 16, 2026, while featuring as a studio guest on “ARISE Akwa Ibom” on Comfort 95.1 FM, Uyo.
According to the Commissioner, Governor Eno’s agricultural programme is deliberate and strategic, focusing on food security and economic diversification. He highlighted initiatives such as the establishment of Ibom Model Farms, modeled after the technology-driven Songhai Farms, and the Tree Crop Revolution, which aims to revitalize oil palm production while empowering farmers with modern processing tools. Agriculture remains central to the Governor’s vision for shared prosperity, with programmes such as the Home Garden Scheme, encouraging households to grow food crops, and the Tree Crop Revolution with return of the Akwa Ibom Agricultural Development Programme (AKADEP) to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, forming key pillars of agricultural growth.

Umanah said the Governor is also advancing rural development by connecting communities through the construction of rural roads, model schools, and health facilities across all 31 Local Government Areas. He further noted the empowerment of business-minded citizens through SME funding initiatives rolled out during the Governor’s Town Square Meetings across the State’s Federal Constituencies.
On security, the Commissioner stated that Governor Eno’s collaboration with security agencies has helped Akwa Ibom remain safe pointing to the hitch-free 32 Days of Christmas Unplugged celebrations as evidence of maintained peace and stability.

In education, the Commissioner noted that beyond the construction and equipping of model schools, the conversion of the State College of Education into a full-fledged University, alongside the seamless operations of Akwa Ibom State University and Akwa Ibom Polytechnic, underscores the Governor’s focus on human capital development and citizens empowerment.
Regarding healthcare, he said the declaration of a State of Emergency in the sector demonstrates the Governor’s commitment to improved service delivery. Measures cited include the recall of willing retired health workers, recruitment of 2,000 new health professionals, and the construction of the Ibom International Hospital along the Medical Corridor. He said these developments have significantly increased access to health care especially through the State Health Insurance Scheme.

On tourism, the Commissioner described the ARISE Palm Resort as a flagship project that transforms a previously unused site into a world-class destination. The resort will feature an artificial lake with floating bars and boat access, swimming pools for adults and children, leisure parks, children’s playgrounds, a golf course, sports complex, gym, spa, and guest accommodation, providing facilities for visitors of all ages.
Umanah reaffirmed that Governor Eno remains committed to delivering the ARISE Agenda, emphasizing that the Governor’s leadership approach combines vision, accountability, and focus. He highlighted that Akwa Ibom was the only state in Nigeria to hold a State Executive Council meeting on the first working day of the year, during which the Governor flagged off a two-week ministerial briefing series, directing all appointees to present 2025 stewardship scorecards and 2026 project projections — a move aimed at strengthening service delivery and performance assessment across government.
