The Integrity Youth Alliance has praised the Nigeria Police Force for placing its commands across the country on alert following intelligence reports of a planned nationwide protest scheduled for Monday, January 12, 2026.
In a statement on Monday, January 12, signed by the Alliance’s spokesperson, Danjuma Lamido, the group said the decision by the Police was proactive and intelligence-driven, noting that security agencies had received reports indicating coordinated demonstrations in different parts of the country.
According to the Alliance, the move reflects the NPF’s commitment to preventive policing, public safety, and the maintenance of peace and order nationwide.
The Alliance expressed concern over the activities of a group identifying itself as the Occupy Nigeria Movement, describing it as lacking clear objectives or legitimacy.
It alleged that the group appeared to be acting as a paid agent with the intention of destabilising the country, and called on the Police to investigate the movement and its sponsors over what it described as a maliciously orchestrated protest.
The group also commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for what it described as professional handling of protests under his leadership, marked by adherence to rules of engagement and respect for human rights. It said this approach has helped to improve public confidence in the Police while safeguarding democratic norms.
In addition, the Integrity Youth Alliance condemned Sahara Reporters over the publication of what it described as confidential Nigeria Police documents, warning that such actions could undermine national security efforts and endanger operatives.
The Alliance urged Nigerian youths to remain law-abiding, avoid being manipulated by what it termed shadowy interests, and support lawful efforts by security agencies to maintain safety and stability across the country.
