Ekpuk Community in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State came alive with colour, rhythm and cultural pride, as Nung Aba Family hosted its highly celebrated Nung Aba Cultural Day 2025 on Tuesday December 30, 2025.
The gathering widely described as epic, unique and deeply unifying was enunciated by the former Family Head, late Chief (Sir) Sylvester Udoma, KSJI.
The event, held at the Community Centre along the Ekparakwa–Etinan Road, brought together family members, community leaders and guests from far and near in a vibrant celebration of heritage, unity and purposeful leadership.
Speaking at the occasion, the Family Head, Obong Akaninyene Umo Etefia, charged members of the Nung Aba Family to remain steadfast in love, unity and collective support for constituted leadership.
He emphasized that peace, mutual respect and unwavering family solidarity remain the foundation for progress and sustainable development.
Chairman of the occasion, Chief Superintendent of Narcotics, Dominic Udoma, commended the organizers for what he described as an excellently coordinated cultural festival.
He also praised the exemplary leadership style of Obong Akaninyene Umo Etefia, noting that the unity and order within the family reflected strong and visionary leadership.
While offering prayers for God’s wisdom, sound health and continued guidance for the family leadership, CSN Udoma advised the youths on the dangers of drug abuse, and urged members to always stand by one another, stressing that family support is essential in navigating both challenges and opportunities.
In his goodwill message, Sir Dennis Udoma congratulated the Nung Aba Family for sustaining its cultural values and effective leadership structure.
He however, called for an expansion of the annual Cultural Day to include; a structured reward and recognition system, aimed at encouraging youths and family members who distinguish themselves in education, entrepreneurship, public service and other vocations.
The celebration was further enlivened by captivating cultural displays, traditional cuisines and an all-night musical entertainment that kept guests thrilled and engaged, reinforcing the richness of the family’s cultural heritage.
Highlight of the event was a collective appeal and resolution that subsequent editions of the Cultural Day would incorporate Educational and Entrepreneurial Awards of Excellence beginning in 2026.
The initiative, according to organizers, is intended to motivate family members across various fields to strive for greater achievements and contribute meaningfully to family and community development.
The 2025 Nung Aba Cultural Day thus stood not only as a celebration of tradition, but as a reaffirmation of unity, progress and a shared vision for a brighter future.
