A senior Nigerian police officer and Officer-in-Charge of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit, CSP Ebong Thompson, has shared part of the cash reward given to him by Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, with widows in Abak Local Government Area of the state.

The outreach, which featured the distribution of bags of rice, cash and wrappers, took place on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Ikot Imoh Village in Abak LGA where he hails from, as part of activities marking the festive season.

Speaking during his end of the year visit to the Community, CSP Thompson said the gesture was motivated by his desire to give back to his roots and support widows in his community, using part of the reward recently presented to him by Governor Umo Eno.
“I can’t forget where I come from. I didn’t come here out of pride, but to share in the festive season with you, the widows of Ikot Imoh Village,” he said.

According to him, the governor had earlier rewarded him for his efforts in fighting crime in Akwa Ibom State, and he considered it necessary to extend the blessing to others.

“The governor while Commissioning internal roads within the State Police Headquarters, made a donation of 10 million naira to me as a reward for my hardwork in fighting crime, and I thought it wise to share with the widows so they can also have something to celebrate this festive season. This is not for politics. I am not a politician and I am not seeking votes. I only came to share in the joy of the season with my people,” Thompson stated.

He thanked God for life and prayed for long life and divine protection for the widows and the community, adding, “I pray that the youths of this community will prosper.”
CSP Thompson also expressed appreciation to Governor Umo Eno, praying for God’s blessings upon him and his family.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the women leader and Eka Iban Ikot Udo Nya, Madam Alice Dan, thanked CSP Thompson for the unprecedented gesture, noting that such support had never been witnessed in the community before. She prayed for God’s continued blessings and greater heights for the police officer.
The highlight of the event was a special prayer session conducted by the widows in appreciation of CSP Thompson.
It would be recalled that Governor Umo Eno, during a recent visit to the Akwa Ibom State Police Headquarters, donated ₦10 million to CSP Ebong Thompson in recognition of his outstanding role in combating crime across the state, a development that inspired the outreach.
