Mr Theophilus Okoka has assumed duty as the controller, Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Akwa Ibom State Command.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of NCoS, Mr Richard Metong, in Uyo on Tuesday, December 9.
Metong said that Okoka took over from Mr Frank Okonkwo, who bowed out of active service after 35 years of meritorious service.
“The formal handing and taking over ceremony took place at the command’s headquarters, Uyo, marking a seamless transition of leadership within the command.
“In his remarks, the outgoing controller, Frank Okonkwo, expressed gratitude to God, the Federal Government, the service leadership, officers and men of the command for the cooperation and support he received throughout his tenure,” Metong said.
He added that Okonkwo charged the personnel to extend the same level of loyalty and professionalism to his successor for the continued progress of the command.
He said that the new controller pledged to sustain the gains recorded by his predecessor while strengthening security, staff welfare and inmate reformation in line with the core mandates of NCoS.
Metong quoted Okoka as calling for the cooperation of officers and men, stakeholders and the general public in order to achieve effective custodial management and successful non-custodial operations across the state.
