Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged that his administration will aggressively pursue all threats to Nigeria’s peace and stability, saying the government is “fully mobilised” to restore security and rebuild confidence across the country.

The President’s message was delivered by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, at the memorial of former Kogi State Governor, Prince Abubakar Audu, in Lokoja on Sunday.

Tinubu said peace, national security, and economic opportunity remain his government’s top priorities.

He stressed that the recent State of Emergency declared on national security was not a ceremonial act but a “declaration of war” against violence and lawlessness.

According to him, the government has begun expanding the capacity of the armed forces through new recruitment, modern intelligence systems, and advanced weaponry.

“We will hunt the enemies of our state wherever they may be and restore the peace that is the rightful inheritance of every Nigerian,” the President said.

Tinubu also outlined plans to establish a State Police system, describing it as a community-focused approach to complement federal security agencies while providing jobs at the local level.

Beyond security reforms, the President noted that Nigeria is working to strengthen its international image, dispel misconceptions about the country’s religious harmony, and engage the world through constructive diplomacy.

Paying tribute to the late Prince Audu, Tinubu hailed him as a visionary leader whose life embodied courage, patriotism, and service.

He said Audu’s political ideals would continue to inspire purposeful governance and unity.

“Our mission is to honour that legacy in concrete action, not rhetoric,” Tinubu said, reaffirming his determination to make peace and reform the nation’s security architecture a central part of his presidency.
