A plot to arrest and detain top chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State who have refused to play along with the sacked Elder Aniekan Akpan PDP led Exco in Akwa Ibom State has been uncovered, The Guide Newspaper reported.
The Guide Newspaper gathered this security intelligence through a top security officer in the state.
The source who confided in the Guide Newspaper revealed that there is an ongoing plot by top APC government functionaries in Akwa Ibom to arrest, and detain some PDP chieftains in Akwa Ibom State including Akwa Ibom State PDP Caretaker Committee Chairman, Mr. Igwat Umoren and PDP State Publicity Secretary, Barr. Ewa Okpo. Others that are on the APC target list to be unlawfully arrested are Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem SAN, Barr. Oniofiok Luke and Barr. Ini Ememobong.
The source who is a high-ranking security officer serving in the State disclosed that some thugs have been commissioned with one million naira each to spy on these high profile PDP members in Akwa Ibom State, to know where there are holding political meetings for possible violent disruption which will pave way for police men to come in, arrest and detain these high profile PDP chieftains in Akwa Ibom State.
The source further disclosed to the Guide Newspaper that the APC led government of Governor Umo Eno in Akwa Ibom State was seriously unsettled with the renewed fervour and pace at which the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Akwa Ibom State is repositioning itself as a strong opposition party in the State courtesy of contributions of these PDP chieftains.
Our source also revealed that the ruling APC government in Akwa Ibom State is threatened with the dexterity, sagacity and intellectual dept of the politicians that pilot the affairs of new PDP in Akwa Ibom State possess, hence the decision to nip them in the bud.
