Indigenes of Ikot Ekpene Udo, the governor’s village of origin, have given their son, Gov Umo Bassey Eno, kudos over his developmental strides in his village and the adjoining communities.

This Correspondent, who visited the Governor’s place of birth over the weekend on a fact finding mission, noted that, contrary to the rumours making the rounds that, the governor had long abandoned the road projects he started in his village and ordered the contracting firms to leave sites, construction jobs are ongoing.

It was discovered on investigation that, construction works awarded to Bulletine Construction Company Ltd, to link some major roads networks with the Governor’s village were in top gear.

“We can say without any fear of intimidation from any quarters that, since these construction firms started work in this village and its environments, they have not stopped for one day, may be, except, on holidays.

Anyone spreading rumours of job abandonment is a mischief maker”, remarked Mr Peter Okon, an indigene of the village.

Asked if compensation for demolished structures were duly paid, Okon answered in affirmative, saying, it was a memorable experience as indigenes smiled to banks to cash their cheques without any complaint.

The governor’s village head, who also spoke in favour on the issue eulogized him for his show of magnanimity since assumption of office.

“We are very happy with our son over his developmental strides since his assumption of office as governor of Akwa Ibom State.

On behalf of Ikot Ekpene Udo village and the people of the nine villages that make up this clan, i sincerely commend the efforts of His Exellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno in developing the area and the state in general”, the Monarch stated.

“I am aware of some pockets of complaints here and there by a section of our state but i want to appeal for patience in this direction”, recalled another respondent.

A good number of the respondents described Gov Umo Eno as a symbol of strength, unity and inclusiveness in the modern politics of Akwa Ibom State.

“We want to use this medium to appeal to our brothers and sisters across party lines to sheath their swords and work towards the re- emergence of Dr Umo Eno come 2027.
By so doing, we will afford him the opportunity to complete his numerous legacy and people- centric projects scattered around the state”, another respondent from the area stressed.

Our Correspondent also witnessed the presence of portable water supply and electricity which we gathered were no more in use.

“You will agree with me that there is electricity supply in this village as we speak and anybody who says otherwise must be an enemy of this administration.”, quipped a respondent.

“Even the Apostolic Church building project, including the Pastor’s lodge, which the Governor directed, have taken off in ernest as you can witness,” he further stated.
