Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the names of the newly-appointed service chiefs to the Senate for confirmation.
He conveyed his request in a letter he sent to the Senate President, Chief Dr Godswill Akpabio, and read to lawmakers on the floor in Abuja.
The names Tinubu forwarded were: Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Major-General Waheedi Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke; and Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General Emmanuel Undiendeye.
Senator Akpabio thereafter referred it to the committee of the whole for screening and confirmation of the nominees on Wednesday, October 29.
