The FLON SPORTS ACADEMY training pitch located at Nigerian Union of Journalists – NUJ Press Centre, Information Drive Off IBB way Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, is completed and ready for commissioning.
The FIFA standard synthetic training pitch, which comes with all FIFA recommended facilities, including floodlights and an underground drainage system was completed less than two months from the commencement of the project.
The Chairman of NUJ AKS Council, Comrade Nsibiet John, whose administration attracted the project through partnership, expressed delight during his recent visit to the facility and promised that the facility will be put to good use for the benefit of members of the Union, the Union’s Fourth Estate School and the general public. He emphasized that the facility is first of its kind in the state and vowed that his administration will attract more world class partnership and facilities to the Union under his watch.
The Chief Executive of FLON SPORTS ACADEMY, Comrade Godwin Akpan, thanked Comrade Nsibiet John’s led administration for providing the enabling environment for such partnership to exist, noting that when a man of vision takes over leadership position, development is inevitable.
Comrade Akpan otherwise known as FOR THE LOVE OF NIGERIA, called on parents to take advantage of the training facility and enrole their kids who are interested in sports development, especially football, noting that their kids will be trained by professional coaches with the required certifications. He said FLON SPORTS Academy which has international partners, will afford their kids opportunity of international mentorship and career, an opportunity that will benefit not just the immediate family but the state and Nigeria at large.
The construction of the FLON SPORTS ACADEMY training pitch officially started on September 3, 2025 and was completed and delivered on October 25, 2025.
