The Provost of the Akwa Ibom State College of Education, Afaha Nsit, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area, Prof. Daniel G. Udo, has announced that the institution will graduate about 2,700 students in a combined convocation for six sets on October 3, 2025.
Speaking at a press briefing on Monday, September 22, the Provost said the event will cover the 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th convocation batches.
“This combined convocation is an opportunity for us to reflect, take stock of our journey, and chart the course for the future,” he stated.

Professor Udo noted that his five-year tenure as Provost, which began in October 2020, will officially end on the same day. He described the coincidence of his exit, the commissioning of TETFund projects, and the convocation as “divinely arranged.”
He disclosed that several TETFund-sponsored projects have been completed in the college and will be commissioned as part of the convocation activities.
Reflecting on the college’s past, the Provost recalled that the institution was in poor condition when he assumed office in 2019 as Acting Provost.
“The environment was overrun by weeds and reptiles, and we had to declare a state of emergency to restore normalcy,” he explained.
He added that the college has since stabilized its academic calendar, improved internally generated revenue, and cleared inherited tax liabilities.
“This institution is not a liability to the government. Rather, we have shown ourselves to be an asset by generating Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), which enabled us to clear huge backlogs of taxes and sustain operations,” he stressed.
While acknowledging the drop in enrollment in some NCE programmes, the Provost assured that management is working with the state government to reposition the college as a hub for teacher education in Akwa Ibom State.
He commended Governor Umo Eno for approving the convocation date and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to support the state’s vision for education.
