Nigerian celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, finished her attempt to prepare the largest pot of jollof rice to set a new Guinness World Record (GWR).
Hilda started on Friday, September 12, 2025, and finished on Saturday, September 13, 2025. The event dubbed ‘Gino World Jollof Festival’ was held at the car park of Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
Several people gathered to support Hilda in achieving her aim. There were many celebrities, food vendors, entertainers and people from all walks of life present to support Hilda Baci. Hilda Baci intended to use 5,000 kilogrammes of raw basmati rice, about 250 bags. However, due to weighing challenges, she said she reduced it to 4,000 kilogrammes, or 200 bags. She cooked in a 22,619-litre pot, measuring six metres wide and six metres tall, in about nine hours.
When the food was ready, Hilda and her team shared it with over 30,000 people in takeaway packs. Hilda Baci’s team urged many to bring ice chests, as there was so much food even after giving out over 30,000 takeaway packs.
