Akwa Ibom Govt Sues For Professionalism In Media Practice, To Partner NUJ For Development Journalism

The Akwa Ibom State Government has charged media practitioners in the State to be professional and developmental in their reportage as they constitute a major stakeholder in the State building and transformation.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ekerete Udoh, gave the charge at the Press Centre, Government House in Uyo, during a courtesy visit on him by the State Working Committee, SWC, of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ.

Mr. Udoh, while congratulating the newly elected SWC of the Union enjoined the body to endeavour to put a machinery in place to promote and sustain professional and responsible media practice for the growth of the State and country generally.



He expressed confidence in the new NUJ leadership to be much more collaborative and impactful to push forward the laudable development strides of Governor Umo Eno as expressed in the trajectory of his ARISE Agenda.

According to the Governor’s Chief Scribe, the peace, unity, and development of Akwa Ibom State should always be put above every individual’s sentiments and persuasions.

Mr. Udoh assured the team of Government’s readiness to continue to partner and support the ideals of the Union as they affect the overall growth and progress of the State.

Earlier, the Chairman of the State Council of NUJ, Comrade Nsibiet John, commended Governor Umo Eno for his exceptional collaboration and support to the Union to ensure its effective job delivery.

Comrade John particularly appreciated the Governor for his support to the body to complete and inaugurate its Auditorium, and the gift of cars to the immediate past executive members of the Union.

The NUJ Chairman, while pledging the Union’s eagerness to propagate and project the ARISE Agenda of the Government, solicited the support of Government for its numerous programmes and activities to improve on media practice and relations in the State.

The event witnessed the presence of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Research and Documentation, Dr. Ndueso Essien, among others.
