Police In Akwa Ibom Burst Suspected Cult Armoury, Arrest Two

Operatives of Akwa Ibom State Police Command on Saturday, August 31, 2025, at approximately 8:30PM, successfully recovered illegal firearms and arrested two individuals following an intelligence-led operation.

According to the Command’s Spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, acting on a credible information, Operatives moved to Ikot Obio Ekpong village in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area where they successfully raided a suspected cult hideout.

DSP John said during the operation, the team recovered three locally-made pistols, two male suspects were apprehended:
* Godwin Udo Sunday, 35yrs

* Utibe Akpan, 32yrs

Both suspects are residents of Ikot Obio Ekpong village.

“Preliminary investigations are ongoing with the goal of arresting other suspects connected to this illegal armoury. The police command is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents. Further developments will be communicated as they arise”, the PPRO said.
